Jon E. Schrader, 64, of Long Valley passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown with his family beside his side. Jon was born August 23, 1947 in Altadena, California to the late Delos and late Helen Schrader. He has lived in Long Valley for the past 28 years and was previously of Temple City, California. Jon retired in 1998 as a District Manager for AT&T. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971 where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Expert Badge Rifle. Jon enjoyed woodworking, golfing, vacationing with his family, and was a dear friend to many. He thought of others before himself and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Patricia (Powers) Schrader, two daughters: Kathleen Randall and her husband Robert, and Kristine Hoffman and her husband Brian. His granddaughters: Nicole and Jessica Randall, and Kyra Hoffman; his two brothers: Mark and Thomas Schrader.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 8pm on Friday, January 27, 2012 at William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (corner of rt 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090. A 10:30am memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 28 at St. Luke Church, Long Valley. Interment will be private.
