Jerry Nechamkin, 74, of Lake Hopatcong, NJ passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 peacefully at home, with his family by his side. Jerry was born on March 16, 1943, in the Bronx, NY, and was raised in Brooklyn. He lived in his Lake Hopatcong dream home, endearingly named Port Nechamkin, for the past 11 years and previously lived in Flanders, NJ. Jerry was the founder and owner of Sphere Construction Group in Andover, NJ and was licensed in NJ as a Professional Engineer. He was a past president of the Newton Rotary Club.
Jerry loved to be around family and sharing his lake house, boats and toys with family and friends. He enjoyed laughing and having a good time. Jerry liked eating a great meal and the occasional shot of Vodka. He took pride in building big buildings and creating bigger memories. Everything Jerry did revolved around helping people and having fun.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lonnie Nechamkin, his daughter, Liza Nechamkin Glasser, his son, David Nechamkin, his daughter-in-law, Nancy Lee-Nechamkin, son-in-law, Hal Glasser, his grandchildren, Wyatt, Lee and Emma, his brother, Sidney Nechamkin, his sister-in-law, Mary Alice Nechamkin, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Jerry's Life will include a gathering from 10am to 12pm on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090 followed by a prayer service at 12pm. Interment will be held privately by the family. Shiva will be observed at the family residence on Saturday evening.
