Norman Marquis, 74, of Flanders, NJ passed away on Friday October 20, 2017 at Pine Acres Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Madison, NJ. Norman was born on May 12, 1943 in Newark, NJ to the late Napoleon and Bertha Marquis. He worked as a Chemical Operator at Ciba Geigy (Novartis) for 41 years. Norman served in the US Army from 1964 -1966 and was a dedicated member of the National Guard for 15 years. He was active in the Boy Scouts, and a dedicated member of the Church of the Messiah in Chester, NJ. Norman volunteered with the Mount Olive Senior Center for several years in their nutrition program. Norman was hardworking, handy, and enjoyed puzzles of all kinds.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Melinda (Deitrick) Marquis; son, Justin Marquis and his wife Cara Grimes; two grandchildren, Porter and Wyatt; and by his sister, Jean.
Norman's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Thursday October 26, 2017 from 5PM-8PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Rd. (corner of rt. 206) Chester, NJ 07930. A 11AM funeral service will be held on Friday October 27, 2017 at the Church of the Messiah in Chester. Interment will be held privately by Norman's family.
Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to join the family for lunch in the church worship hall.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Church of The Messiah.
