Joan E. Tolan, 83, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on December 2, 2017 at Paragon Village. Joan was born on April 2, 1934 in Newark, NJ to the late Thomas Quinn and the late Kathleen (Thrappe) Quinn, both of Ireland. She lived in East Orange, Maplewood and Long Valley, NJ before moving to Hackettstown two years ago. Her career spanned 40 years as a telephone operator for Bell Atlantic and AT&T. She was an avid traveler and particularly enjoyed visiting family in Ireland. Joan was an active member of St. Luke Parish in Long Valley. She also enjoyed gardening and loved to dance.
Joan is survived by her four devoted children, Joan Tolan, Bryan Tolan, Suzanne Tolan, and Christine Cuccaro and husband Michael; five loving grandchildren, David, Thomas, Michael, Gavin, and Aidan; three cherished great-grandchildren, Lillian Rosalie, Esmèe and Ethan. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Vincent R. Tolan in 2001.
Friends are respectfully invited to attend Joan’s Life Celebration which will include a visitation from 9am – 10:30am on Saturday December 9, 2017 at St. Luke Parish in Long Valley. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am following the visitation. Interment will be held privately by the family.
