Obituary of Robert Mielich
Robert "Bob" Martin Mielich, 85, of Long Valley, NJ passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Bob was born on May 17, 1931 in Newark, NJ and grew up in Bloomfield, NJ. He has lived in Long Valley since 1965. Bob attended Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ, the United States Naval Academy, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In 1977, he received a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, after which he entered into private practice as an attorney in Long Valley, NJ.
Bob loved his work and remained in practice until the age of 85. He was extremely proud of his German heritage. As longtime members of the Hunterdon Hills Kennel Club, Bob and his wife, Doris, raised Weimaraners. He also had a great appreciation for poetry and opera.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris (nee Allen), his daughter, Karen, his cousin, Alan Schreihofer of Brookhaven, Georgia, his brother-in-law Richard Allen of Hendersonville, N.C., his niece, Andrea Immelt of Boston, Ma, and his nephew, Bradford Allen of Peoria, Arizona.
Services and burial were held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washington Township Land Trust of Morris County, PO Box 4, Long Valley, NJ 07853 or the Long Valley Presbyterian Church, 39 Bartley Road, Long Valley, NJ 07853.
