Obituary of Lillian Bruno

Lillian C. Bruno, 98, of Cranberry Lake, NJ, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Lillian was born on January 1, 1919, in Avellino, Italy. She moved to Staten Island when she was 5 years old. Lillian has lived in Cranberry Lake for the past 40 years and was previously from Hasbrouck Heights, NJ and Staten Island, NY.

Lillian was an entrepreneur and restauranteur - a female in the profession way ahead of her time. She, along with her late husband, George, previously opened Lovey's Pizzeria in Hasbrouck Heights more than 60 years ago. Then, widowed, along with her family, she opened Lovey's Showcase, a supper club for music lovers, in Cranberry Lake, NJ and then, the Seafood Shak in Randolph, NJ.

Lillian was an avid gardener and reader. She loved the arts, especially the theater, opera, music, and singing. She enjoyed to travel, particularly trips to Europe.

Lillian is survived by her daughter, Rose Ann Healy (Tommy); her grandchildren, Susan LaBell (Michael), Tommie Healy (Lori), and David Chance Healy (Claudia); her great grandchildren, Brittany Camille Occhuzzo, Mikie LaBell, Thomas, Tabitha, Travis, Declan, Aidan, Reagan, and Caelan Healy; her great great grandchildren, Myla Marie and Michaela Love Occhuzzo; her sisters, Josephine Ruggiero and Mary Mafaro, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George Bruno, and daughters, Marie Heaney and Camille Paparella.

A Celebration of Lillian's Life will include a visitation on Monday, May 22, 2017, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090. A 10:30am funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 23 at Good Shepherd RC Church in Andover, NJ. Interment will follow at Moravian Cemetery in Staten Island, NY.
