Loving Husband, Father, Pop-Pop and Friend

Tony Iturbe, 68, of Flanders, NJ passed away on Monday June 5, 2017 in Denville, NJ. Tony was born on August 6, 1948 in Havana, Cuba to the late Damaso and Maria Iturbe.  When Tony came to the United States from Cuba, he first lived in Miami, FL and then moved up to Elizabeth, NJ. He eventually settled in Flanders 40 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded 2 Bronze Stars and The Purple Heart.

Tony was a proud long time member and past assistant Chief of the Flanders Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He worked as a Technician for Xerox for 43 years before retiring in 2016. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, going on cruises, and was an avid Yankee fan. His greatest passion in life was spending quality time with his family, especially his two grandchildren.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Nancy (Gruver) Iturbe; three loving children, Lauren Iturbe and fiancé Jose Marrero, Jason Anthony Iturbe, and Jeremy Andrew Iturbe and fiancé Nicole Levy; and by his two cherished grandsons, Caleb Anthony Iturbe and Elliot Michael Iturbe.

A Celebration of Tony’s Life will include a visitation on Friday June 9, 2017 from 4PM-8PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ 07930. A Funeral mass will be held on Saturday June 10, 2017 at 10AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Parish in Flanders. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester.
