Carol Ann Aleshevich (nee Bartenhagen) passed away peacefully at the age of 78 years old.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY to Nicholas and Florence Bartenhagen and moved to Dumont, NJ where she graduated from Dumont High School. While in high school, she met the love of her life and future husband of 58 years, Gene Aleshevich.
A 46-year resident of Chester, NJ, Carol owned and operated The Book Swapper, one of Chester's most beloved stores, from 1977 – 1996. Customers would come from miles away to visit and chat with her, knowing she would have a good book recommendation for them.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Gene Aleshevich; son Michael Aleshevich of Chester, NJ, daughters Sandy Reder (husband Jeff) of Long Valley, NJ , Laura Brader (husband John) of Chester, NJ & Leesburg, VA, brothers Nicholas and Alan Bartenhagen, grandchildren Rich and Steven Reder and Mary and Nolan Schurter and numerous cousins around the country.
