Guy Tarsitano

Guy Tarsitano, 67, of Wantage, NJ passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 peacefully at home. Guy was born on August 24, 1951 in Paterson, NJ. He previously lived in Budd Lake, NJ and lived most of his life in North Haledon, NJ. Guy was a legal advocate and case worker for DASI, a group that helps with domestic abuse and sexual assault intervention. He was a retired Police Lieutenant for North Haledon, NJ and also served as the Director of Emergency Management there.


Guy was a charming person with a good sense of humor who people loved. He was easy to connect with and many people considered him family. Guy was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former Grand Knight. He was extremely charitable with his time and volunteered many hours as a member of the North Haledon Fire Department. He also helped coach football with the Manchester Junior Falcons and was involved with many productions staged by the St. Paul's Players. Guy was an avid sports fan, and loved the NY Yankees and Chicago Bears. He also raised show dogs, and was a member of the Borzoi Club of America.


Guy is survived by his children, Michelle Castanheira and her husband Paul, and Thomas Tarsitano and his wife, Meredith, his granddaughter, Gwyneth Tarsitano, his significant other, Ron Williams, and his spouse, Debby (Vander Meulen) Tarsitano. He was predeceased by his parents, Gaetano "Thomas" and Eva Marie (Donohue) Tarsitano. Although Guy was an only child , he was raised with many cousins who were almost like siblings .


A Celebration of Guy's Life will include a visitation on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090. A 10am funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 22 at St. Jude Parish in Budd Lake, NJ. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes, NJ.
