Patricia Ann Johnsen, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2020, at age 87. Patricia was born May 10, 1933 in Brooklyn NY. She was the daughter of the late Andrew J. Sr. and Mae G. Doman. Patricia graduated from Catherine McCauley High School, Brooklyn NY. She got her first job working for MetLife in New York City. During that time, she met and married her high school sweetheart, the late Frank Johnsen. The couple bought a home, and settled in the Tottenville section of Staten Island, N.Y. where they raised their four children, Greg, Gary, Robert, and Marilyn. Patricia was a beautiful and loving homemaker. She was selfless in so many ways and kept her family grounded. Her family meant the world to her, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the simple things in life whether it involved sharing a beautiful day to go shopping or just having friendly conversations with her neighbors enjoying a cocktail or two. She took the time to listen and was happy to be there to give advice to her family and friends. Patricia loved listening to music, particularly, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. Baking with her husband during the Christmas holidays was a tradition in the Johnsen household. The aroma of Spritz cookies, traditional Norwegian treats such as fattigmann, julekage and krumkake often filled the air. She enjoyed baking cookies that many times were available when her children arrived home from school. Patricia was also known as having a green thumb. Her passion for gardening was clear. Frank built a greenhouse from where Pat grew plants from seeds that transformed into their annual bumper crop of home-grown vegetables galore. She loved watching detective shows on TV; she especially enjoyed programs that included actors such as Frank Scalia. Ken Wahl, Tom Selleck and Don Johnson After raising her children, Patricia became a home health aide for several residents on Staten Island. She loved helping the elderly and made such good friends with their extended families as well. She later went to work for Sears Department store as a manager until her retirement in 1998. She then moved to upstate NY after she and Frank transformed their summer property to a four season home. There they shared many wonderful experiences and memories until his death in 2007. Patricia then moved to Flanders, NJ to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She lived there for 11 years and cherished the many great friendships she had during that time. Pat started to travel more and took many adventures to NYC for a Broadway show, or concert followed by a great restaurant. As long it involved spending time with family and friends, she was happy. Her husband Frank, the love of her life, died in 2007 after 50 years of marriage. She was incredibly grateful that she was able to celebrate their Golden Anniversary with him.
