Margaret M. Wood, 81, of Flanders, NJ passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 while on hospice care in Long Valley, NJ. Margaret was born on August 14, 1938 in Woodside, Queens, NY. She lived in Flanders for the past 46 years. After raising her 5 children, Margaret returned to the workforce in 1984 and worked at a variety of retail stores retiring finally from Walmart. Margaret was a founding member of the Rory O'Moore Pipes and Drums. She was a current member of the Sisters of St. Brigid and was in the past, an active member of the Irish American Association of Northwest Jersey. She was an avid reader, she loved crossword and sudoku, and was well known for her crocheting. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Dermot, in 2012, her parents, Cyril and Marie, her brother William, and all of her brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her five children, Mary Russell and husband Rob, Keith and wife Kerri-Lynn, Patrick and wife Nancy, Matthew and wife Deirdre, and Paul and wife Barbara, 12 grandchildren, Bobby and fiancée Julie, Claire, Elizabeth, Sean, Brendan, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Jessica, Erin, Leah, Jacob, and Rebecca, her great grandson, Logan, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who became family. A Celebration of Margaret's Life will include a visitation on Friday, July 10, 2020 from 3pm to 7pm at St. Luke Parish, 265 West Mill Road, Long Valley, NJ. A 9:30am funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 11 at St. Luke Parish. The church does require anyone entering the church to please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Interment will follow the funeral mass at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Flanders Rescue Squad, 27 Main St., Flanders, NJ 07836 as we thank them for the many times they came to our aid.
