Rajat Jitendra Shah, 49, of Chester, NJ passed away Saturday July 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Rajat was born on June 1, 1971 in Queens, NY to Prabha Shah and late Jitendra Shah. Raj earned his B.S. from the NYU Stern School of Business and his MBA from Columbia University. For the past 17 years, he operated as the Senior Vice President of Student Financial Services for Lincoln Technical Institute. He lived in West Orange, NJ before moving to Chester 7 years ago. Rajat immediately settled in and became involved in the Chester Community. He served as Vice President and Trustee for the Chester Board of Education and was the Den Leader for Chester Cub Scouts Pack 316. Rajat will forever be remembered as a hardworking, caring, and selfless person. Whether it was offering guidance to colleagues and friends, volunteering time to his community and charitable causes, or sharing the wonderful meals he made for family and friends, he truly loved to give. One of his most impactful contributions was the two years he spent volunteering with his wife Namrta in the Peace Corps in Honduras. The two of them were instantly embraced by their host country and formed lifelong relationships with community members and their fellow volunteers. Rajat was an avid New York Giants fan, a talented chef, and enthusiast of good Mexican food. His second passion in life was exploring the world with his first passion, his family. Together they've traveled to 5 continents, with Rajat always leading the way with his adventurous spirit. He dazzled so many lives with his bright smile and life-of-the-party attitude, no matter where he went. Rajat is survived by his wife, Namrta and their three children, Anjali, Anika, Jeevan, his mother, Prabha and his brother, Rohit.
