Kenneth "Ken" Smolen

Kenneth R. Smolen, 78, of Flanders, NJ passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday March 23, 2021. Ken was born October 16, 1942 in Bayonne, NJ to the late Joseph Smolen and the late Julia (Evancik) Smolen. Ken graduated from Bayonne High School in 1960 and would go on to earn a bachelor's degree and master's degree in engineering from NJIT. Ken was an extremely hard worker and worked over 45 years as a mechanical engineer for the Austin Company in Piscataway, NJ. He has lived happily in Flanders since 1972' on a beautiful piece of property that was always well manicured. Ken enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially to Europe. His favorite place to travel to was Switzerland.

Ken is survived by his beloved partner Lynn Biddiscombe; three loving daughters, Cheryl Perri and her husband David, Robyn Ebelherr and her husband Greg, and Kristin Stone and her husband Jason; 19 cherished grandchildren and 1 cherished great-grandchild; devoted brother, Richard Smolen and his wife Sharon; and by many other loving family members and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Carol Smolen.

Ken's Life Celebration will include a memorial visitation on Saturday March 27, 2021 from 2PM – 3:15PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Rd. (corner of Rt. 206) Chester, NJ 07930. A Funeral service will begin at 3:15PM at the Funeral Home and will conclude all services for Ken. Interment will be held privately by his family.
