BARBARA LYNN SCOLA, 80 of Mendham New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021, sheltered in the love of her family. Barbara was born in Paterson, New Jersey on December 31, 1940. She is survived by Robert M. Scola, her husband of 58 years and life partner of 62 years; loving children Robert and Sandy Scola (Kraebel), Susan and David Sneath, and Robin and David Szewczak; grandchildren Courtney, Nicholas, Christopher, Shannon, Robby, Katie, Dylan and Hope. She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Ida Zolli (Goldberg) and brother, Louis E. Zolli, of Hawthorne, New Jersey.
Barbara was a loving wife, wonderful mom, the BEST mom-mom, and a caring sister. Her family was her entire world, and she truly was the center of our family. She loved endlessly, fought hard to maintain her health throughout the years, and her strength was nothing short of amazing.
Early in her marriage, Barbara moved frequently due to her husband’s military career. She lived briefly in Waco Texas, Valdosta Georgia, Dover Delaware and Woodbury Heights New Jersey. Finally, they settled in Mahwah New Jersey where she would raise her young family for the next 20 years. Outside of the home Barbara worked as a nursing assistant and caregiver for special needs folks in a few different establishments. Her primary job was to raise her three children and care for her disabled brother, Louie, who had moved in after their parents has passed away. Barbara’s lifetime goal was to complete her college education, so she went back to college when her children were in their teens. In 1987, Barbara graduated from Ramapo College with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Constantly leading by example, she would graduate with over a 3.7 average and was placed on both the Dean’s Honor List and President’s List. After moving to Mendham New Jersey, Barbara was employed by TABB Incorporates, from 1995-2010, and performed background checks for healthcare professionals. Her last place of employment would be Diversified Financial, where she had an integral part in setting up this new business - she did this until 2012.
Barbara had so many friends who were thought of as extended family, all who loved her dearly. She had a special way about her, touched so many lives, left us with many beautiful memories, and will be forever missed.
