Obituary of Anthony Yanakas

Anthony James Yanakas, 80, of Budd Lake, NJ passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Anthony was born on January 27, 1938 in New York City, NY. He has lived in Budd Lake for the past 7 years and was previously from Staten Island, NY. He was a retired printer for Banyon Printing Company. Anthony proudly served his country in the US Army.

Anthony loved reading, especially fiction and books about Westerns. He was known as the family philosopher. He enjoyed trap shooting as a member of the Staten Island Sportsman Club. Anthony was also an avid NY Yankee and NY Giants fan.

Anthony is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jennie (Carmiciano) Yanakas, his children, Christine Ferreri, James Yanakas and his wife Janet, Maria Yanakas, and Margaret Laudor and her husband Ian, his grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen, Jacqueline, Michael and his wife Elisabeth, Nicholas, Rebecca, Jessica, Jennie, Joshua, Andrew, and Zachary, his great grandchild, Aidan, his sister, Katina Hutin and her husband Sydney, his brother, Anthony, Kontos and his wife Barbara, his sisters-in-law, Joyce Yanakas and Linda Yanakas, and his nieces, Melina and Krissa. He was predeceased by his parents, James Anthony and Florence, and by his brothers, Nicholas and George Yanakas.

A Celebration of Anthony's Life will include a visitation on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 3pm to 7pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090. A 10:30am funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html.
