Obituary of Kathleen A. Hannan

Kathleen A. Hannan, 76, of Flanders, N.J., passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018. Kathy was born on July 22, 1942, in Chicago, Il. She has lived in Flanders for the past year and previously lived in Morris Plains, N.J.

She loved classical music, especially the opera, and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband of 45 years, Mike. Throughout her life, she found joy and relaxation spending time with family and friends at her summer home in Higgins Beach, Maine.

Kathy was a longtime member of The Masterwork Chorus of Morristown, where she served on the board of directors. For two decades she ran Masterwork's Summer Sings program—an outreach to local singers that was also her brain child. Her passion for choral singing led her in 2010 to co-found the New Jersey Choral Consortium, an association created to foster collaboration among choral groups.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Michael Hannan, her children, Maureen Hannan, Lynn Clark, Michael Hannan, Jr., Kevin Hannan, Lisa Hannan, Timothy Hannan, and Kathryn Jubboori; 16 grandchildren; and her brother, Thomas Houle, and his wife Terry. She was predeceased by her parents, Romeo and Mary Houle.

A Celebration of Kathy's Life will include a visitation from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018, at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, N.J. (908) 879-3090. A 10:30 a.m. funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 11, at St. Lawrence Church in Chester, N.J. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, N.J. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Masterwork Chorus of Morristown at P.O. Box 2167, Morristown, N.J. 07962-2167, or by visiting www.masterwork.org/support/donate. (See link on left)
