Obituary of Evelyn Deanna Reese

Evelyn (Evie) Reese (nee Peterson), 81, of Madison, NJ went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 8, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was at home surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was born on August 28, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Anna Peterson. She worked as a bank teller and also in the art department at Silvestri's in Chicago. Upon having children, she devoted her life to her family. She has made her home in Madison for the past 48 years.

Evelyn was passionate about art and attended the Art Institute of Chicago. She loved Chicago, had many fond memories of her time there and was an avid Cubs fan. She loved talking about her family and Sweden where her parents were born and took great joy in passing on Swedish traditions to her children and grandchildren. She loved animals, big and small, and instilled that love for animals in her daughters. Evelyn delighted in her personal relationship with Jesus Christ and was a woman of strong faith always willing to lend a hand or listening ear. She was an amazing woman who brought so much love, joy and light into the lives of everyone who was fortunate to know her. Most of all, Evelyn loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Deanna Hansen, Kristine Samara and husband Steven, Jennifer Bradshaw and husband Mark, Laura Kirsch and Michael Kirsch, her 8 grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary, Benjamin, Lauren, Olivia, Joel, Daniel and Anna, her brother, Bruce Peterson and wife Sharon, and her nephews, David and Paul. She was predeceased by her friend and former husband, James Reese.

A memorial service to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at Long Hill Chapel, 525 Shunpike Road, Chatham, NJ on Saturday, October 13th at 10:00am. A graveside service will be held in Chicago at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Atlantic Hospice, 465 South Street, Suite 100B, Morristown, NJ 07960.
