Obituary of Vincent Robertiello

Vincent Anthony Robertiello, of Flanders, NJ, passed away on September 21, 2018 in Morristown, NJ at the age of 88.

Vince was born in Paterson, NJ to Dominic and Marie Robertiello on December 8, 1929.  He graduated from Central High School in Paterson.  He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in the US Army.

A former amateur boxer who grew up during the Great Depression in Paterson, Vince lived most of his adult life in Ridgewood, NJ.  He was a renowned and award-winning sports writer and columnist for several prominent NJ newspapers, including the Ridgewood News, the Bergen Record, the Paterson Morning Call and National Speed Sport News.  His work in covering the Ridgewood High School football team for over 30 years earned him a place in the Ridgewood High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Vince was an avid sports fan and enjoyed rooting for his beloved NY Football Giants and NY Yankees.  He also enjoyed tending his flower and vegetable gardens and was an expert marksman with a bow and arrow.  He loved his family dearly, spending much time with his children on family vacations and outings and rooting them on at their athletic events.

Vince is predeceased by his brother Dominic Robertiello and sister Judith Falcone.  He is survived by his former wife, Margaret Ann (Eden) Robertiello; his half-brothers Egidio Robertiello and Martin Robertiello; his four children:  V. James Robertiello and his wife BethAnn, Antony Robertiello and his wife Karen, Eden Robertiello and Alice (Robertiello) Smarsh and her husband Scott; his six grandchildren:  James Robertiello, Alexa Robertiello, Justin Robertiello, Andrew Robertiello, Matthew Robertiello, and Brandon Robertiello.  He’s also survived by 10 nieces and nephews.
