Obituary of John Murray
John F. Murray, 82, of Flanders, NJ passed away on Thursday November 1, 2018 at Spring Hill Assisted Living Center in Morristown, NJ. John was born on October 3, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Michael and Agnes Murray. He was a proud Brooklyn boy and one of eleven children who lived in Brooklyn until moving to Flanders in 1973. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Intrepid from 1955-1957. John was a hardworking man who owned an appliance service business throughout Morris County. He was a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church in Flanders, and member of the Knights of Columbus. John was a devoted family man. Family always came first for John and in his eyes it was his greatest accomplishment.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Patricia C. Murray; three devoted children, John Murray and wife Megan, Kristi Miller and husband Thad, and Lauren Murray; four cherished grandchildren, Kate, Shannon, Kyle, and Brynn; brother, Francis Murray; sister, Elaine Callow; and by many other loving family and friends.
John’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Tuesday November 6, 2018 from 6pm-8pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Route 206) Chester, NJ 07930. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday November 7, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church in Flanders, NJ. Interment will be held privately by John’s family.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in John’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
