Obituary of Genevieve E. Carr

Genevieve E. Carr (Corbett), 82, of Chester, NJ passed away peacefully at Morristown Medical Center. Affectionately known as Jane, she was born March 24, 1936 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY. In June 1961, Jane married the boy across the street, the late Patrick Carr. With their young family, the Carrs moved to Long Island in 1968. Patrick Carr enjoyed a 27-year career as an NYPD Police Officer and Jane was a devoted, wife, mother and grandmother. She moved to Chester late last year to live with family.

She placed family above all. There are countless family stories illustrating her as a supportive and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Never missing her children's school or sporting events, Jane was a steadfast volunteer as a leader of her daughters' Girl Scout Troops, while never missing her son's baseball games. As her children began families of their own, Jane loved her role as the head of the Carr babysitting department.

With an insatiable appetite for news and current events, Jane's mornings typically began with reading several political blogs. A voracious reader, often consuming dozens of books monthly on her Ipad, Jane was also an avid NY Yankees fan. The running joke with Jane's children was to never call their mother while she was watching a Yankee game, a Hallmark movie or QVC.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Patrick Carr in 2002, Jane is survived by Kerry Carr and Kenneth Aufiero of Chester, NJ and Hamilton, Bermuda, Maureen Carr of Northport, NY, Eileen and Robert Bracco of Kings Park, NY and Patrick and Eve Carr of Weehawken, NJ, as well as her 4 grandchildren, Taylor Bianco (Bracco), Hayley Bracco, Robert Bracco, and Elle Harper Carr. Jane is also survived by 6 siblings John Corbett (Anne), Cecilia Kraus, Daniel Corbett, James Corbett (Kathy), Michael Corbett (Peggy), and Patrick Corbett (Marit), and 22 nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Jane's life will include a visitation from 3pm to 7pm on Sunday, March 10 at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090. A 10:30 AM funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 11 at St. Elizabeth Church, 34 Peapack Road, Far Hills, NJ 07931. Burial will take place at 11am on Tuesday, March 12 at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at
