Visitation at Funeral Home
George in Army 1960's - George was stationed briefly in south florida during the Cuba crisis and we lived in Sarasota and my family (Patrick's) drove down to visit him. We were so excited to see him.. My mom & dad (Bud & Lillian) were so proud of him. My heart is broken and I have so many fond memories of his visits to florida. George (i will always remember him as Georgie) took me to my first Nascar race in Daytona Beach, and I was hooked for life. We were walking thru the garage area at the Daytona International Speedway before the race and he pointed to a driver and told me "See that driver, you need to keep an eye on him, he is new to nascar and he is going to be a great driver" and I said , " Well if he is going to be that good, I believe you and you need to take my picture with the driver" I went into the garage and tapped on the shoulder of the driver and asked him if i could have my picture taken with him and he said YES - Georgie took the picture and I still have it to this day. I even joined the drivers fan club and stayed a faithful fan until he retired. The driver was Darrell Waltrip............Thank you Georgie for introducing me to racing............After that day, I never missed a race at the track............I am so glad Georgie gave me that memory and I will always have a warm place in my heart. When I saw him on my last visit to NJ he said " Theres my nascar buddy" I will always remember that.......Rest in peace--gloria patrick
