Obituary of George Pillion
George H. Pillion, 83, of Chester, NJ passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at home. George was born on November 12, 1935 in Whippany, NJ. He grew up in Whippany and has lived in Chester for the past 55 years. George was a retired postal worker for the Whippany and Flanders Post Offices.
George loved gardening and wood working, and especially liked making furniture. He was a car buff and liked to watch auto racing. George was fascinated by history and enjoyed watching war films. George was a general do-it-yourselfer and loved helping out other people.
George is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jermaine Pillion, his children, George B. Pillion and wife Jennifer, Patricia A. Desmarais and husband Charlie, and Michael J. Pillion and wife Karen, his grandchildren, Candice, James, Jonah, Justin and Julia, and siblings, Jean Collins, Betty Wheat, and John Pillion.
A Celebration of George's Life will include a visitation from 9:30am to 11:30am on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090 followed by a 12:00pm funeral mass at St. Lawrence Church, 375 Main Street, Chester, NJ. Final interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities USA (catholiccharitiesusa.org).
