Obituary of John Daniel Ackor

John Daniel Ackor, 57, of Bolivia, NC passed away on August 21, 2019 at his home. John was born on September 11, 1961 in Plainfield, NJ to Ephraim S. Ackor, Jr. and Joan Przystas Ackor. He grew up in Oldwick, NJ and lived in Rockingham, NC before moving to Bolivia. He was the owner of “Dirtbusters,” a land excavation company, and enjoyed operating heavy machinery. John was patriotic, a passionate collector of guns and proud member of the NRA. He was an active participant with Robin Sage Special Forces Training in Fort Bragg, NC. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, boating and target shooting. Growing up on a farm, John always had a special bond with animals, especially his hunting dogs. He was also a car and motorcycle enthusiast. John will be remembered most as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend, who knew him as “Johnny”.


He is survived by his adoring mother, Joan Ackor; devoted sister, Tarryn Ackor Hoover; his cherished nieces and nephews, Dillon, Sayre, Lofton, Shennee, Ali, Jefferson, James, Adam, and Erin; aunt, Olga Samuels; and his stepsister, Terre Foldy. He was predeceased by his father, Ephraim S. Ackor, Jr.; and by his stepbrother, Jefferson D. Ackor.


John’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Friday August 30, 2019 from 6PM – 8PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Rd. (corner of Rt. 206) Chester, NJ 07930. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday August 31, 2019 at 10AM at St. Brigid RC Church in Peapack, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude RC Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
