Obituary of Robert Kevin Walker
Robert K. Walker, 61, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away August 30, 2019 at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NY. He was born and raised in Bronx, NY moving to NJ in 1972. In his youth Robert was a St. Helena's altar boy, choir singer, Boy Scout and baseball player. He attended Mt. Olive HS and Fordham University. Over the years Rob lived in Hawaii, San Francisco, and Redondo Beach, CA, before settling in Las Vegas after meeting his wife, Nina. He worked at Federal Express, Marriott, American Express, and the Playboy Club.
Robert found pleasure in listening to music, traveling, was a food enthusiast, and enjoyed fine dining and cooking. He had an impeccable sense of style that appeared in anything he did. He easily conversed with anyone he met. He enjoyed visiting family back East, following Horse racing, skiing in Lake Tahoe and Utah, and driving his German cars and sport bikes. Robert and Nina enjoyed many vacations especially to Hawaii and London.
He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is survived by his loving wife Nina for the past 22 years. His sisters Christine and husband Philip Desmond of Succasunna, NJ, and Susanne and her husband John Neilan of Summit, NJ. Along with the four nieces and nephews that thought the world of him: Erica Desmond, Philip Desmond, Lily Neilan, and Lucy Neilan. Robert is also survived by his mother-in-law, Fumiko Francis, and an extensive family of dear cousins, aunts, uncle. He had many lifelong friends especially Clark Croft and Frank Pelletieri.
Robert was pre-deceased by his father, Robert Brendan Walker who passed away on March 30, 2019 and his mother Meta Anna Walker (nee Haar) who passed away on April 14, 2009.
A Celebration of Robert's Life will include a visitation on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 4pm to 8pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ. A 10:30am funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 5 at St. Jude's Parish, 17 Mount Olive Road, Budd Lake, NJ. Interment will follow at Hackettstown Union Cemetery in Hackettstown, NJ.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Be the Match foundation or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
