Obituary of Ann Marie Huntz
Ann Marie Huntz passed away peacefully in her Long Valley home on October 31st, surrounded by her loving family.
Ann Marie was born in Wyoming, Pennsylvania on August 13, 1933 to Anna and Joseph Hayko.
A smart and beautiful woman, she was the valedictorian at her high school where she met the love of her life, her husband Daniel Huntz. At the time they met, she was a junior while he was a senior. She went on to attend College Misericordia on a scholarship and graduated cum laude with a teaching degree in Home Economics. She also competed in the Miss Pennsylvania contest and was named first runner-up. After college, she married Dan, who would be her partner in life for over 70 years, and started her career as a teacher.
They settled in Piscataway, NJ where Ann Marie was the loving, dedicated and devoted mother of four children. She treasured her time with her children and grandchildren and loved hosting family gatherings. While energetically raising her family, she went to Rutgers University at night and completed her master's degree in Child Education. She taught Home Economics and Child Development at Piscataway High where she was the pioneer and director of the first pre-school program at the school. She was there so long that many of her students were children of previous students. She retired from her 37-year career in 1992.
After retirement, Ann Marie and Dan moved to Long Valley, NJ where she continued to dote on her family, frequently taking her grandkids out to lunches and shopping trips. Her grandchildren loved her Easter egg hunts every spring and enjoyed searching the yard for gifts and surprises.
Ann Marie is survived by her loving husband Dan; her four children and spouses, Carol (Huntz) and Joseph Frezza, Marie (Huntz) Lewis, Daniel and Launy (Brown) Huntz, Kathleen (Huntz) and David Kavanaugh; eight grandchildren, Tony and Shannon Frezza, Ryan Lewis and Erika Lynn Murphy, Andrew and Nikki Frezza, Kyle and Guadalupe Kavanaugh, Tyler Kavanaugh, Kelly Kavanaugh, Holly Huntz, and Nathan Huntz; and five great-grandchildren, Dylan and Arielle Frezza, Cooper and Liam Frezza and Henry Kavanaugh. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Kimberly Lewis. She is also survived by her brothers Richard and Joseph Hayko and her sister Doris Borosky.
