Obituary of Kamel Z. Fahmi

Kamel Z. Fahmi, 75, of Long Valley NJ, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Kamel was born on December 17, 1944 in Cairo, Egypt. Previously from Budd Lake, Kamel has been living in Long Valley since 1987. Earning a bachelor’s degree in physics and chemistry in Egypt, and a master’s degree from Steven’s Institute in New Jersey, he went on to prestigious training and certification programs at both Wharton Business School and Oxford University. Kamel was employed by SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline) for more than 30 years, starting out as an entry-level chemist, and rising to the rank of senior vice president, overseeing worldwide quality assurance for the company’s consumer products division. A dedicated and loving father and husband, Kamel was an avid sailor and chess player. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing and loved to travel and tell stories. Kamel is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Siham Fahmi, his daughter Tammy Fahmi and son-in law Andrew Lutz, his son Robert Fahmi and daughter-in-law Kristine; Five Grandchildren, two brothers and many loving family members and friends. Visitation for Kamel will be on Sunday January 5, 2020 from 3:00pm-6:00pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ . There will be a Prayer Service on Monday, January 6th at 10:00am at Valley View Chapel, 115 East Mill Road, Long Valley, NJ. Burial will follow at German Valley Rural Cemetery, 80 Coleman Rd. in Long Valley , NJ.
