Obituary of Santo C. Scarcella

Santo C. Scarcella, 82, of Roxbury Twp., NJ passed away on January 13, 2020 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover, NJ. Santo was born on December 23, 1937 in the Bronx, NY to the late Rocco and Margaret Scarcella. He graduated from Fordham University in 1959 and went on to become a successful owner of several McDonald’s Franchises in the area. Santo grew up in the Bronx, and lived in East Brunswick, NJ before moving to Roxbury Twp. 47 years ago. He was an avid football and baseball fan and enjoyed the casino games. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Rosalie (Genazzi) Scarcella; three devoted children, Michael Scarcella and wife Beth, Laura Pioppi and husband Al, and Rita Scarcella; five cherished grandchildren, Krista, Gina, Julia, Sophia, and Nicholas; two brothers, Guy Scarcella, Rocco Scarcella and sister-in-laws, Joan Scambia and Liberta Scarcella; and by many other loving family members and friends. Santo’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Wednesday January 15, 2020 from 3PM – 7PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Road (corner of route 206) Chester, NJ 07930. A short prayer service will begin at 6:45PM and conclude all services. Interment will be held privately by Santo’s Family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Santo’s memory to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMH of Central and Northern New Jersey, Inc.131 Bath Ave., Long Branch, NJ 07740).
