Obituary of Maryann Librizzi

Maryann (nee Moroz) Librizzi, 74, of Mt. Olive Twp., NJ passed away peacefully on January 17, 2020 at Paragon Village. In true Maryann fashion, she would not give in to Alzheimer’s Disease for over 15 years during which she was cruelly robbed of not only her memories but her abilities to dance, smile, read, sing, walk, speak or recognize her loved ones. She was a brilliant, funny, successful, outspoken woman, a beloved teacher, awesome role model and a loving mom, wife and friend. Maryann was born on September 22, 1945 in Manhattan to the late Michael and Mary Moroz. She grew up in Ozone Park Queens, and as an adult lived in Smithtown Long Island for over 40 years before moving to New Jersey ten years ago. She received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in education from City College of New York. She would go on to have a long career as a high school science teacher and school administrator before retiring. She was a long-time parishioner of Church of the Resurrection in Smithtown NY. Maryann enjoyed walking on the beaches of Long Island, collecting shells and beach glass and jumping the waves, the bigger, the better! She and her husband Lenny traveled the world visiting every continent except Africa. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, dancing, swimming, singing in church, crossword puzzles and solitaire. She made 100s of Christmas cookies every year and she also was a talented artist who decorated Ukrainian Easter eggs. Maryann is survived by her two devoted children, Eva Tomasco and husband Michael, and Daniel Librizzi; four cherished grandchildren, Gavin, Andrew, Harry, and Hayden; and by many other loving family members and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leonard Librizzi in 2012. Maryann’s Life Celebration includes a visitation on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 2-4PM & 6-8PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Rt. 206) Chester, NJ 07930. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 1:00 PM at St. Matthew the Apostle Parish in Randolph, NJ. Interment will be held privately by Maryann’s family during the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Maryann’s memory to: The Alzheimer's Association
