Obituary of Mary Jane Mulcahy

Mary Jane Mulcahy, 95, of Chester, NJ passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Jane was born on April 14, 1924 in Trenton, NJ to the late Augustus and Mary Stewart. Jane attended Cathedral High School and Helmbach's Business School. During World War II, she worked as a secretary for the Ternstedt Division of General Motors where Grumman Aircraft were produced. Jane married Frank H. Mulcahy, Jr. in 1954 and lived in Short Hills for the next 48 years. Some of the Mulcahy family's best memories were on the cul-de-sac of Eliot Place where she forged beautiful relationships with her two sisters-in-law and their families. She was an active member St. Rose of Lima Parish and the Ladies Auxiliary. Jane was an extraordinary homemaker, and a gourmet cook. She loved her family above all else and enjoyed her four children and a plethora of nieces and nephews. In 2002, Jane moved to the Four Seasons in Chester and became a member of St Lawrence the Martyr Church, and the Over-50's club. Jane enjoyed reading, art, music, gardening and sewing. She especially loved trips to the beach. She was beautiful, elegant, kind, gentle, and humble throughout her long life. Jane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by: her children - Mary M. Murphy and husband Joseph; Jane O'Hara and husband John; Eileen Shea and husband Nicholas; Frank P. Mulcahy and wife Sally; her 11 grandchildren - Katie Riley and her husband Patrick, Brian Murphy, John O'Hara and his wife Lauren, Kelly O'Hara, Patrick O'Hara, Kerry Shea, Timmy Shea, Chris Shea, Rachel Mulcahy, Shane Mulcahy, and Rebecca Mulcahy, her six great-grandchildren, her sister Margaret Graziano, sister-in-law Joan Schnabel and her husband Jim and many other loving family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Frank H. Mulcahy, Jr. and brother Augustus Stewart. A Celebration of Jane's Life will include a visitation on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ. A 12 pm funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 24 at St. Lawrence the Martyr Church in Chester, NJ. Jane's burial will take place on Tuesday, February 25 at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ.
