Obituary of Andrew Mercurio

Andrew Mercurio, 92, recently of Lititz, PA passed away on March 1, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA. Andrew was born on October 14, 1927 in the Bronx, NY to the late Vito and Maria Mercurio. He served in the United States Army from 1946 - 1947. Andrew lived in Elmont, NY, Coram, NY, and Long Valley, NJ, before moving to Lititz three months ago. He was very proud of his Italian Heritage and was the owner of A. Mercurio Deli in Whitestone, NY. The deli was known for its Italian specialties, especially for its homemade Mozzarella Cheese. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and would host Mozzarella Parties in order to raise money for the organization. Andrew enjoyed photography and could be found taking pictures at all family events. Family first was how Andrew lived his life. The way we cared for his immediate and extended family was second to none. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Sophie (Fazio) Mercurio; two loving grandchildren, Andrew Molloy and wife Allison, and Katerina Brittain; two cherished great-grandchildren, Lucas and Briggs; son-in-law, Douglas Brittain; and by many other loving family members and friends. He was predeceased by his two daughters, that he so treasured, Marie Molloy, and Annette Brittain. Andrew's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Thursday March 5, 2020 from 10AM – 12PM at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090. A Funeral Mass will begin at 12:30PM at St. Luke Parish in Long Valley. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ.
