Vincent "Vinny" Loftus

Obituary of Vincent "Vinny" Loftus

Vincent 'Vinny' Loftus, 84, was taken too soon by Covid-19 on April 7, 2020. He was born on January 22, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, the youngest of 7 siblings. Vinny married his High School sweetheart, Laurie, and in June of 2019 they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. He was the father of three children Cathy, Brian and Tracey and the "Poppi" to seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. We will greatly miss our father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all and a man who would give his shirt for someone in need. His religion was an integral part of his life, and most mornings you could find him at one of the early morning masses in town. He was known as Mr. Fantastic because when asked how he was he would always answer with a hearty "Fantastic" As a young man he learned to work hard and take on any job to support his family. He worked night shifts, day shifts and odd jobs whenever he could pick one up. He then received his license to be an electrician and founded Loftus Electric in 1976 and turned it over to his children in 2009 to take care of his wife. He was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Flanders, NJ and spent many hours volunteering with The Hermits of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Chester, NJ. Most important, he was our Poppi, and we are so very proud to be his children, his grandchildren, and to be part of an amazing legacy. He will always be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hermits of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, 80 Pleasant Hill Rd., Chester, NJ 07930 or Frontline Appreciation Group of Hackettstown (Covid-19 support)
