Obituary of Edward Victor Varcardiponi

Edward Victor "Gino" Varcardiponi, 73, of Chester, NJ passed away peacefully on April 28, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Edward was born on July 25, 1946 in Paterson, NJ to the later Victor and Victoria (Simonelli) Varcardiponi. He graduated from Passaic Valley HS in 1964 and enlisted into the US Army. Edward proudly served his country from 1965-1968 and served in Vietnam from 1966-1967. He was the recipient of the National Defense Award Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Following his honorable discharge, Edward received a solo flight certification from Caldwell Wright Airport in 1969 and graduated from Teterboro School of Aeronautics in 1970. He was a hardworking, self-made man, who started his own business, EJ Auto Body Shop in Chatham, NJ. During his forty years in business, Edward serviced many families in the Chatham and surrounding communities, building trusting relationships along the way. When he was not working or spending time with family, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding and caring for his horses. He was a member of the VFW in Whippany, NJ, and a member of the American Legion in Totowa, NJ. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Maureen (Flynn) Varcardiponi; four devoted children, Kelly Salerno and her husband Paul, Edward Varcardiponi and wife Kara, Melisa Varcardiponi, and Lisa Varcardiponi; six cherished grandchildren, Dominic, Jack, Tyler, Sophia, Rose, and Luca.; brother-in-law John Flynn; sister-in-law, Kathleen Flynn; nephews; and by many other loving family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Victor Varcardiponi in 1964. A graveside service and burial will be held privately by Edward's immediate family. His memorial service and Life Celebration will take place in the future.
