Obituary of Alexandra Bisk

Alexandra Bisk, 87, of Long Valley, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 30, 2021, at her home with her loving family by her side, holding both her hands.

Alexandra was born on November 20, 1933, in Sina Lakonias, Greece to the late Constantine and Metaxia Floros. She came to the United States when she was just 16 years old with her beloved sister Patty and created an extraordinary life for herself.  She lived in a variety of places including Albuquerque NM, Erie PA, Chicago IL, Cleveland OH, and finally in New Jersey which she called home for most of her life.

She met her husband, Euripides also known as Robert or “Rip,” at a Greek dance. He was the love of her life until the end. They were true soul mates and did everything together. With their three young children in tow, Alexandra and Rip moved to New Jersey to take over Mangels Chocolate Shop in Chester. For 33 years, the couple delighted local residents with their confections and warm personalities.

Alexandra was an extremely hard worker, kind, generous, warm, funny, and very fashionable. To meet her, was to love her. Her greatest passion in life was her family, especially being a grandmother.  Everyone related or not warmly referred to her as “Yia Yia.”

Alexandra is survived by her three daughters, Joyce Twilley and husband Ed, Michelle Bauer, and Lisa Bisk; five cherished grandchildren, Lindsey, Jade, Kate, Sam, and Olivia; four siblings, Anastasia, Nafsika, Takis, and Liako; and by many other loving family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, and by her sister, Patty.

Alexandra’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 10 am – 12 pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home (908) 879-3090, 15 Furnace Road (corner of Route 206) Chester, NJ 07930. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:30 pm at St. Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Church in Randolph, NJ. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester.

The family would like to extend an invitation for those wishing to share stories of Alexandra’s life and the impact she made on them for a late luncheon at Redwoods, 459 Main Street, Chester after all services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute Research Annex (Dr. Stephen Tsang), 160 Fort Washington Ave. New York, NY 10032

The family respectfully asks that those not vaccinated wear face masks.
