Obituary of Richard C. Straley
Richard C. Straley, age 81, of Chester, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown. Mr. Straley was born July 17, 1927 in Irvington, NJ. He was the the son of the late Harold and the late Helen (Scott) Straley.
Mr. Straley lived in Chester for the past 30 years. He received a BA Degree from Upsala College and a M.F.A. from Montclair State University and served in the US Army. He was a professional Artist. He taught art at Pratt Institute, County College of Morris and Caldwell College. Mr. Straley won many major art awards, most particularly from the Herron Museum in Indianapolis and New Jersey Tercentenary. He is also represented in many museum collections.
He is survived by his wife: Agnes F. (Ficcio) Straley; his Daughters: Dr. Aleda and her husband, Dr. Desmond Cheng; Mara and her husband, Glenn Magley; his grandchildren: Ian and wife Andrea, Devan, Aidan, and Bryce; and his great-grandchild: Jackson
Visiting hours will be Saturday, July 19th from 8:00am-9:15am atthe funeral home. The will be a Funeral Mass celebrated on Saturday, July 19th at 10:00 at St. Lawrence R.C. Church, Main St., Chester. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ
