Obituary of Howard G. Ehmann
Howard G. Ehmann, age 80, of Long Vallley, NJ died peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2008 after a short illness at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was born December 24, 1927 in Irvington, NJ. He was the son of the late Howard C. and the late Matilda (Jokus) Ehmann.
Mr. Ehmann was an accountant and ran Howard G. Ehmann Accounting in White House and then Long Valley.
Howard was raised in Oldwick, NJ and lived in Long Valley since the 1940's. He was a graduate of the Flemington High School, Class of 1946, and went on to serve in the Army during WWII for 86 days and then served in the Korean War in the Oklahoma 45th division service company.
He was a member of the Oldwick Fire Company and a charter member of the Fairmount Fire Company #1. He was a director at large of the Pierce Arrow Society and also the Pierce Arrow Foundation. Howard was a member of the Horseless Carriage Club of America. He was active with Civil War re-enactments as a member of the 15th Regiment New Jersey Volunteer Infantry Company A, a Civil War group. He was a member of the Fox Hill Gun Club of Pottersville. Howard spent a lot of time hunting and fishing in Alaska as well as Pottersville. He has been attending Indy 500 races for the last 50 years. Howard donated his 1903 Pierce Arrow to the Pierce Arrow Museum in Hickory Corners, MI. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association for 54 years. He was also a member of the Island Pond, VT and White House, NJ, American Legion. He had vacation homes in Norton Pond, VT and Hector Township, Potter County, PA.
He is survived by his wife: Dianne of Long Valley; his daughter: Victoria Gallets of Morristown, NJ; his Brothers: Peter J. Ehmann and his wife, Elsie of Long Valley, and Andrew Ehmann and his wife Shirley of Dubois, Pa.; his nieces and nephews: Melissa and Todd Ehmann, Tom and Mark Elliott and Becky Stubblefield. He was predeceased by his sister: Caroline Springer.
There will be a Memorial Gathering on Thursday, September 4th from 4:00-8:00 pm at William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Rd., Chester, NJ.
The Memorial Service will be Friday, September 5th at 11:00 am at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Tewksbury Twp., NJ
