Obituary of James J. Sullivan
James J. Sullivan, 90, died at home in Netcong on October 17, 2008, after a long illness.
Born in West Hoboken (Union City), Mr. Sullivan lived in Mt. Arlington and Saylorsburg, PA. He studied at the Franciscan Seminaries in both Staten Island and Rensselaer, NY, before pursuing a career in the insurance business. He was employed at Crum & Forster and the State of New Jersey Department of Taxation.
Mr. Sullivan was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He had also been an Extraordinary Minister and Lector at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Mount Arlington and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife Victoria (Peggy) (nee Garofalow) Sullivan, his sons James J. Sullivan, Jr., of Andover Twp. and Michael J. Sullivan of Sparta, and his daughters, Susan L. Alai of Morristown and Margaret A. Coe of Independence Twp. Mr. Sullivan is also survived by three grandchildren, Julia M. Alai, Victoria R. Coe and Charles H. Coe, and a sister, Ellen McGuire of Bloomfield.
Predeceasing Mr. Sullivan were his brothers, Francis Sullivan and John Sullivan, as well as his sisters, Elizabeth Bell and Kathleen McBride.
Visitation will be held on Monday October 20th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Rd(corner of Rt 206) Chester, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday October 21st at 10am at St. Jude Thaddeus Roman Catholic Church in Budd Lake.
