Obituary of Carmen Vitaliti

Carmen J. Vitaliti, 86, of Chester, New Jersey passed away on November 13, 2010. He was born on July 4, 1924 in Italy. From the age of one year, Carmen resided in Newark, New Jersey until moving to Chester in 1964. Carmen was a Real Estate Broker. In 1964 he established the Carmen J. Vitaliti Real Estate Company. From 1969 to 1970, Carmen served as the first president of Service Through Associated Realty (STAR), which provided realtor services in western Morris County.During World War II he served his country in the Asia-Pacific Theater, receiving several medals including the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal. He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. Despite poor eyesight from his early 30s, he was not slowed down by his disability. Although complete blindness fell upon him more than 25 years ago, he remained amazingly independent, even caring for his wife until her death five years ago. Carmen lost his beloved wife of 55 years, Aurora "Peggy" Vitaliti in 2005. He is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Viggiano and her husband Dr. Christopher Viggiano of Long Valley, New Jersey and his son Dr. John Vitaliti and his wife Dr. Connie Vitaliti of Beavercreek, Ohio. Also, Carmen is survived by his six grandchildren: Vico, Luke, Matthew, and Vance Viggiano, and Ashley (Vitaliti) Wasserman, and Andrew Vitaliti.
